Discipleship Session #2

As adults in our 60’s-80’s, we may think we are too old and tired to address issues of change, but Isaiah 40:28-31 obviates that objection for us.
Knowledge of God alone is insufficient to know God or bring about change: knowledge of the Word needs to be applied, Hosea 4:1, 6:3
Paul was a prime example of one who was willing to give up all to know God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ: Philippians 3:7-8
As descendants of Adam, we all have areas we need to address and change, as did the Corinthians., per II Corinthians 12:20-21
Foundational to our growth and change is the desire to seek God with focus, intent, energy and enthusiasm: Proverbs 2:1-11
We need to take God at His Word, and prove Him by humbly accepting the truth and acting in faith and obedience: Romans 12:1-3
Those who really get to know and understand the meaning of the Word are those who seek. The parables had the impact of preventing the unbelievers from understanding, per the words of Christ in Mark 4:10-12
The Greek word dioko appears 45 times in the New Testament and more than half of the time it is translated as persecute. Paul’s use in I and II Timothy is instruction to ‘pursue’ -to intently chase after until reaching – righteousness, godliness, faith, peace, love.(I Timothy 6:11 and II Timothy 2:22)
As a foundation we need to have a hunger for the Word and to join Ezekiel in feeding on the Word of God: Ezekiel 2:8-3:3
