To think he not only had to live to provide our eternal life for us in the future, but he also had to carry the weight of all those who came before him and looked to him to fulfill THEIR hope! It gives me such a greater appreciation for what my lord was like and what he accomplished.

Great explanation on ‘reflexives’; thank you. Christ is inclusive to all who WILL follow after Him, which then becomes exclusive to those IN the faith of Christ in the Holy Spirit. Regarding Luke 2:40, my KJV Bible says: “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” I think it’s interesting that the term ‘waxed’ strong reminds me of the moon when it waxes or grows more illuminated until it is ‘full’, which is representative of OT law, only a reflection of the great light of the sun. It is also interesting that if one thinks of the sun, moon and stars, it is kind of like the sun is like the NT (the true light of Christ that illuminates everything; the moon reflects the light of the sun is like the OT law and prophets; and the stars are like those in Christ (true prophets, teachers, evangelists, etc), like you, Michael…. a star of Christ in the glory of His realm. God bless you in your teaching, Michael!
